Updated CISA Guidance on the Essential Critical Infrastructure Workforce – Mining Listed under Critical Manufacturing

Over the weekend, the Department of Homeland Security updated their “Essential Critical Infrastructure Workforce Guidance,” an advisory list that is intended to help State, local, tribal and territorial officials as they work to protect their communities through different containment and quarantine orders.

The updated guidance reflects comments that NSSGA submitted to the agency last week and provides greater clarity for our industry by exempting “workers necessary for mining and production of critical minerals, materials and associated essential supply chains, and workers engaged in the manufacture and maintenance of equipment and other infrastructure necessary for mining production and distribution.”

The reference to mining can be found under the “Critical Manufacturing” segment of the CISA Guidance on the Essential Critical Infrastructure Workforce.
