MAA Announces 2021 Annual Awards for Michigan’s Outstanding Aggregate Producers

LANSING, MI – The Michigan Aggregates Association (MAA) today announced the results of its 2021 Annual Awards Program, recognizing the outstanding efforts of aggregate producers that go above and beyond traditional industry practices while setting a new standard for others to aspire to.
MAA is Michigan’s leading voice and advocate for the aggregates industry. Its members include producers of sand, gravel, stone, slag and recycled products, along with industry equipment manufacturers and service providers.
In total, MAA’s members are responsible for the discovery, extraction and delivery of the essential raw materials required for building our roads, bridges, public works projects, homes and buildings.
On February 4th, 2021, MAA held a virtual awards presentation as part of its annual membership meeting to recognize companies under the following categories:
- Companies with no MSHA Recordable Injuries in 2020;
- Companies that exemplify a commitment to environmental standards in their daily operations;
- Companies whose community involvement activities enhance the public’s awareness of the key role the aggregates industry plays in our daily lives.
“The MAA Annual Awards program serves to acknowledge and encourage member dedication to worker safety, environmental stewardship and industry awareness efforts amongst the general public which uses our products every day,” said Douglas E. Needham, PE, MAA President. “The competitiveness for these awards shows that high standards are embedded in the efforts made by women and men throughout the aggregate industry. It is our honor to bring recognition to their hard work and dedication.”
MAA Safety Awards: Thirteen producers were honored with a for having “Zero MSHA Recordable Injuries in 2020.
