Michigan State Senate Passed Bills That Exempt Industrial Processing from State Sales Tax

Good News! Today, the Michigan State Senate passed two bills that exempt industrial processing from state sales tax.

HB4054 and SB 97 clarifies that equipment used for the production, manufacturing, or recycling of aggregate, where the aggregate will be used as an ingredient or component for the construction, maintenance, repair, or reconstruction of property that will ultimately be subject to sales or use tax, is exempt from sales tax at the time you purchase the equipment.

Both bills will be heading to the Michigan House of Representatives to be voted on. The bills passed by a wide margin and included bipartisan support.

MAA would like to thank the bill sponsors: Senator Joe Bellino and State Representative Greg VanWoerkom for their efforts on this issue!
