MAA Executive Director, Doug Needham, Speaks to MIRS News about Aggregate

MAA Executive Director Doug Needham recently explained to MIRS News that meeting Michigan’s new clean energy standards will be nearly impossible without reforming our permitting process for aggregates.
 
The massive additional demand for aggregates required to build new wind and solar operations simply cannot be met under our broken permitting system, which is already stretching to meet the needs of current public infrastructure and private development.
 
"Those are going to take a huge amount of material, and it's gonna place an immense pressure on our existing capacity to meet current demands," Doug NEEDHAM, the executive director of the Michigan Aggregates Association, told MIRS. "We have some of our members already committed for all of their material that they're going to produce in '24."
