Michigan Aggregates Association Names Cliff Halliday Jr. as the 24th Annual Michael Newman Distinguished Service Award Recipient
LANSING, Mich. -- The Michigan Aggregates Association (MAA) announced that Cliff Halliday Jr. of Halliday Sand & Gravel has been selected as its 2024 Michael Newman Distinguished Service Award recipient. The award was presented during MAA’s Summer Conference in Boyne Falls last week.
“Cliff’s contributions and efforts have been vital to the growth of our industry,” said MAA Executive Director Doug Needham. “As both an expert in the field of aggregate mining and a leader in the fight for public policies that allow us to serve the needs of Michigan’s economy, Cliff was a natural choice for this award.”
Established in 2000, the Michael Newman Distinguished Service Award is MAA’s most prestigious honor. Previous recipients include George Colby, Bob Allison, Chris Kinney and more, all of whom have provided significant leadership contributions to the industry.
Since 1963, the family-owned Halliday Sand & Gravel has been a leading Michigan aggregate supplier based in Houghton Lake. As a custom crusher, Halliday Sand & Gravel produces high quality products tailored to each customer’s needs, with an emphasis on quality. Producing road gravel and asphalt materials, the company operates multiple plants stretching from Battle Creek to the Mackinac Bridge and everywhere in between.
