Prevent Opioid Use Disorder: A Resource Guide for the Mining Industry


The Mine Safety and Health Administration (MSHA), in collaboration with the National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health (NIOSH), recently released a guide titled “Implementing Effective Workplace Solutions to Prevent Opioid Use Disorder: A Resource Guide for the Mining Industry.” This guide aims to equip mine operators, occupational safety and health (OSH) managers, and other industry stakeholders with practical tools to plan, implement, and integrate comprehensive workplace interventions to prevent opioid use and opioid use disorder among mine workers. Developed with input from the mining community, current workplace opioid prevention guidance, and insights from prevention research, this guide provides a well-rounded approach to addressing opioid risks in the mining sector.
