MAA Safety Committee Updates Silica Rule Compliance Guide
In April 2025, the MAA Safety Committee released a comprehensive guide to assist members in navigating the pending MSHA Silica Rule, which is scheduled to take effect on April 8, 2026.

To ensure the guide remains a valuable and complete resource, the MAA Safety Committee has recently updated it to include an “Evaluation of Changes Affecting Respirable Crystalline Silica Exposure” form. This new tool is designed to support mine operators in conducting their periodic (every six months) evaluations after confirming that the worksite remains below the action level of 25 µg/m³ for a full shift.
