Respirable Crystalline Silica Sampling Training exclusively for MAA members. This session is designed to help member companies prepare for the
upcoming MSHA Metal/Nonmetal respirable crystalline silica (RCS) standards and provide practical guidance for implementation.
This training will support attendees in understanding key regulatory expectations, correct use of sampling equipment, and post-sampling procedures such as documentation, lab submissions, and follow-up actions.
Training Objectives
Attendees will gain knowledge in the following areas:
- What is respirable crystalline silica.
- Current MSHA standards related to silica sampling for nonmetallic mineral crushing operations, including how to select employees for sampling.
- Sampling methods and how to apply them across various site conditions.
- Equipment setup and calibration, field troubleshooting, and chain-of-custody procedures for lab submission.
- Choosing the appropriate lab analysis under the new rule.
- Interpreting sampling results and communicating findings with employees.
