EGLE Updates Air Permitting Process

EGLE has recently updated its internal air permitting process to ensure greater consistency and accuracy in permit reviews. Many producers have noticed variations in how air permits were being reviewed, and this update aims to standardize the process across the board.

Moving forward, companies will be required to include a complete list of all devices in the MiEnviro system during the air permitting process — even when submitting a modification to add just one new device.

This change is intended to help both EGLE and producers maintain accurate and up-to-date equipment records. Over time, some companies may have added equipment without submitting the necessary permit modifications. The new process will ensure that all equipment is properly documented, improving both compliance and efficiency.

Once the full device list is entered into the system, it will be saved for future use—eliminating the need to manually re-enter this information during future permit modifications. After a permit modification (general or site-specific) is completed in MiEnviro using the complete device list, that same list will automatically pre-fill for use in future relocation notices.
